Do you like hot stuffy planes? I don’t! But if you want to go to India (like me) you have to sit in one. I want to go to India because my grandmas have great cooking, I want to visit my family and I love the weather there.
One reason that I want to go to India during spring break is my grandma’s cooking. She makes the best food ever! My favorites are puran poli and Kolhapuri chicken. Puran poli is like pita bread that has a sweet mixture inside. The mixture is made out of jaggery and thoup. Thoup is basically butter. You take a stick of butter, put it into a pot and wait until it melts then you let it harden again. That is thoup. You usually eat puran poli with umti (um-tee). Umti is like lentil soup except for it is very spicy. Kolhapuri chicken is extremely spicy chicken curry. You can eat it with rice or chapatti (cha-pa-thee). That is like normal pita bread but thinner. Isn’t it making your mouth water?
The second reason I want to go to India is because I want to see my family. I want to see my uncles and aunts and cousins and grandparents, but the one I want to see most is my dog Coco! I also want to see my cousins Aryan and Malhar. Actually I call Malhar, Malhar dada. In Marathi, the language we speak in my state in India, dada means big brother. Aryan is just as old as I am so I don’t have to call him dada. When I meet them we usually just hang around talking or we play in the sun. I would also play with Coco. She is a German Shepherd. We usually just take her outside and play.
The last reason I would want to go to India is the weather. In India, the heat is dry heat. Sometimes it gets so hot that the pavement burns! My favorite part of the day is evening. It gets dark but it still stays very hot. It does not turn into humid heat but stays dry. It makes the black sky and the stars seem very soft. It is like a Redmond summer all year long.
I never go to India, I return to it. Great people, great food, great weather; what more can I ask for?
